Footmen Wars Play

Privacy policy

What Footmen Wars Online keeps when you play, who else sees it, and how to turn it off. Last updated 3 November 2026.

The short version

  • You play without an account, an email address or a name. There is nothing to sign up for.
  • No cookies, no ads and no analytics companies, on the game or on these pages.
  • The game sends us a few counts, like which army you picked and how long your match ran. They never include who you are, your IP address or an id for your device.
  • If your browser has Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control turned on, the game sends nothing at all.
  • We never sell data or use it for ads.

Footmen Wars Online is made by Tin Whistle Games, which is responsible for the data described here. Questions go to support@tinwhistlegames.com.

What the game sends us

While you play the game at footmenwars.com/play/, it sends us short notes about the match. This is how we learn which armies people like, whether matches run too long and where the game is too slow. Each note is one of these:

  • You opened the game, whether your device's main input is a touch screen or a mouse, and which of our buttons brought you in (Jump in, a Play button on this site, the installed app, or none).
  • The hero and the army you picked.
  • How your match went for you: won or lost, how many seconds it ran, and your army, hero and tier.
  • Where you were when you left the page or went back to the title screen (the title, a pick, a match and its minute, watching bots, or the end screen), and that you came back if you did.
  • How smoothly it ran, as two rough ranges like "30 to 45 frames a second", plus touch or mouse.
  • An error, if the game hits one: the error's message with any web address cut out, the file and the line number. At most three a visit.

With each note we store the date (no time of day), and whether it came from footmenwars.com, our playtest or our preview copy of the game. A visit whose web address carries extra settings, like the ones our own checks use, is marked as a test so we can leave it out.

Apart from touch or mouse, we don't store anything about your device: not your IP address, your browser, the make of your device, your screen size or any cookie, and the game never gives your device an id. The notes carry no name and no id for you or your device, so we can't tell whose they are. The pages of this site, apart from the game, send nothing, unless you send an idea (below).

The Discord on the home page

The home page shows how many people are in our Discord, who is on it right now and their Discord pictures. Our own server asks Discord for these and passes them on, so your browser never connects to Discord and Discord never sees you look. All of it is what Discord already shows anyone about the server.

If you send an idea with the form there, what you type and the topic you pick are posted into the #ideas channel of our Discord, where its members can read them. It goes as Anonymous unless you choose otherwise, and then nothing about you is sent with it. If you choose to post as your name or your Discord username, the name you type is posted with your idea as plain text. We can't check that it's yours, and it doesn't link to your Discord account or ping you. We don't keep another copy. To allow one idea a minute from each connection, our server uses a scrambled form of your IP address for that minute; it is never stored and never sent to Discord.

Turning it off

Turn on Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control in your browser and the game sends nothing. A tracker blocker that stops the notes works too. The game plays the same either way.

What your browser keeps

The game saves a few things in your browser so they are there next time: your settings (speed, graphics, camera, sound, music and the like), which tips you have already seen, and the last hero and army you picked. While you play online the tab also keeps which room and seat are yours, so a reload puts you back in; that one goes when you close the tab. They stay on your device and are never sent to us. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes them. Neither the game nor these pages set cookies.

Who else gets data

  • Cloudflare, which hosts this site and stores the notes above. Like any web host, it receives your IP address and browser details with every request in order to send you the pages and keep the site safe. We don't keep those, and our code never reads them, apart from the one-minute check on the idea form above. Cloudflare handles them under its own privacy policy.
  • Discord, which runs our Discord server. It receives an idea you send with the form, and handles it under its own privacy policy.
  • Links that leave this site, like Sheep Tag Online or Tin Whistle Games, go to sites with their own policies.

We don't share data with anyone else, and we never sell it.

How long we keep it

We keep the notes for as long as they help us make the game better, and delete them when they stop being useful. Because nothing in them points to you, we can't pick out your notes to show you or delete them.

Children

We don't ask anyone for personal information, children included. If a child under 13 emails us, we will answer and then delete the email.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in Europe or the CCPA in California), you may have more rights, like asking what we hold or complaining to your data protection authority. We keep the counts because we have a legitimate interest in knowing how the game plays and what breaks. Write to us and we will answer within 30 days.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes, the new version goes here with a new date. Questions or requests: support@tinwhistlegames.com. The rules for playing are in our terms of service.

Your barracks is ready
